I am happy to report that Netgear has fixed this with the latest update applied to my router. I updated about 5 days ago (regular update push from Netgear, not by manual download method) to version V_ and now Avast does not complain about dnsmasq and nslookup reports "dnsmasq". THANK YOU Netgear for taking care of this!!!. OK, figured out why, or at least what was causing, the router restarts. It's the E extender. As soon as it's connected, the router starts randomly restarting. I've had the E disconnected for over a month and not one restart. Trying to download some large gaming updates and the thruput is terrible but that's due to low signal in my office.
